Beginning at the Beginning

Angel, I feel that you are largely responsible for this.  Yes, you with your colorful yarn and lovely pictures.  You may have thought I wasn’t paying attention last summer, but I was watching with a jealous eye.  Now I too have been sucked in.  It happened at the fair…somehow someday became today, or actually Wednesday and I became a spinner.

I began with some blue and black leicster and then, moved on to leicster tussah mix.  I am now on my third oz. of roving.  The current is Alpaca/Merino/Silk in a 50/30/20 blend.  My first spindle of yarn definitely looked like novelty yarn- bumpy, shaggy and somewhat short, but I’m improving rapidly and not working nearly as hard at it.  Below are the yarns I have spun thus far.

Now that I am a fairly accomplished stitcher I am learning about how yarn and thread begin.  Perhaps someday will become today again soon and I will learn more about dyeing.
